Backless Couch

An Enemy of the People

By: Henrik Ibsen

Adapted and Directed By:

Myeongsik Jason Jang

Performed at Illinois State University

This production was performed on a thrust stage and provided interesting challenges when furnishing this show. A backed couch could not be used as it would obstruct audience views. We decided to reupholster a backless couch that we had in stock to solve this problem.

Fully Articulated Deer

As You Like It

By: William Shakespeare

Directed By: Robert Quinlan

Performed at the

Illinois Shakespeare Festival

Before working on this prop, I had no experience creating realistic animals. There was a lot of trial and error that went into the creation of this deer. Our entire props team for the 2019 season of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival was involved in its design and construction.

Lantern

The House of Bernarda Alba

By: Federico García Lorca

Directed By: Robert Quinlan

Performed at Illinois State University

This prop was designed by the scenic designer, but I was in charge of figuring out how to build and assemble it. This project allowed me to work on my CNC machining skills.

Breakable Cane

The House of Bernarda Alba

By: Federico García Lorca

Directed By: Robert Quinlan

Performed at Illinois State University

The cane used by the main antagonist of this play gets broken during the climax of the story. We decided to make a breakable cane that would be swapped out with the real cane right before the start of the scene. Multiple breaking canes were made so that a new one could be used for each performance.
